Flora at Zoo Ave

This is a torch ginger, I guess because it resembles a flame at the end of a long stalk.

This one is called a camaron amarillo.

Another yellow shrimp.

Red Ginger

Interesting tiny bananas

Bamboo Gigante

Some of these bamboo stalks were 6 to 8 inches across.

Pink Ginger

This is an Orchid that was growing high up in a tree as an epiphyte. This particular one is the national flower of Costa Rica.

There are lots of these epiphytes with large leaves and vines growing in trees.
