The Primary Talent Show was last weekend. You can guess who I thought stole the show with the last performance. It was a SuperHero Comedy Routine. The best part was when Sam started in on his very first joke. It went like this:

Sam: "What is a SuperHero's favorite drink?"

And then, right when he is about to give his line, Sophie takes over and gives it for him, complete with her fist striking the air.
Sophie (with 3 year old enthusiasm): "Fruit Punch!"

I wish I had thought to video the whole thing, but I was too busy coaching the lines. Sam was a pro and when Sophie forgot her lines, he helped her out.

Q: How did Wonder Woman convince Superman to marry her?
A: (swinging her lasso) She roped him into it!

(mom made that one up, folks. There are no clean Wonderwoman jokes on the internet).
All the numbers were great and each kid did a great job! Thanks to my sweet Primary Presidency for putting it all together.

Acting Resume

I'm an actor. I can prove it. I have the headshots and resume. See:

Who could have seen that one coming? Certainly not me.

I promise I won't go the way of some other (former) LDS actors.

Capitol Reef

Capitol Reef is further north from Bryce Canyon. It used to be quite inaccessable by road until the l940's. It consists of a quite a few large rock "reef" formations.

The pioneers had a settlement here in the early days. They called it Fruita, and there were lots of orchards. They grew things like apples, pears, peaches and cherries. You could tell some of the trees were very old. Since we were there in the spring, the trees were blossoming.

Maybe this is the Capitol Reef in the distance, with a gnarled trunk in an interesting shape.

These are ancient petroglyphs. The indiginous people who lived here were called the Freemont people. I am sure they had a different name for themselves, but this is what they are know as now.

This very steep canyon had a road through it in the early days of the last century. Apparently the road was just barely wide enough for two cars to pass. But the road is not kept up at this point any more, so this is where we hiked.

Bryce Canyon

Bryce Canyon is further north and at a higher altitude so there was still snow on the ground. We didn't take hikes like at Zion, but looked down over lots of interesting rock formations.

We did see some intrepid people down hiking in the snow, but we chose to look at the scenery from above and really enjoyed it.

Lots of pretty color in the rocks and amazing formations.

This one kind of looked like a cathedral with all the arched windows.

This one was a very big arch that was formed by wind and water,

Zion Park

On a beautiful Friday almost 2 weeks ago, we spent the day in Zion Park. The scenery was spectacular. On the north/south road, you have to ride on their park shuttles. They don't allow private cars on the roads unless you are staying at their lodge. But the shuttles were nice and came to the various stops every few minutes and the driver would give information about what we were viewing. You could get on or off at any stop so could spend what time you wanted at each stop. This mountain was called Checkerboard Mesa. bvg

Sheer Red Cliffs. If you look closedly toward the top you will see two white clad figures of people scaling the cliff.

More Sheer Red Cliffs. Didn't see any climbers on these. But on the hikes we took we saw lots of squirrels, a couple of wild turkeys and a couple of deer, so there is some wildlife in the park.

The Patriarchs. It looks like you are seeing 3 large mountains when actually there are 4, a white one directly behind the far right one. Anyways these are called Abraham, Isaac, Jacob and Moroni.

Red Butte. It was a really nice day. The sky was clear and the sun shining which added to the beauty of the spectacular scenery.

Signs of Spring

White blossoms on the rhubarb! I thought I was posting about spring! Oh well , it snowed last night. Hopefully it won't last long and it will be spring again soon.

Pink magnolis blossoms on a tree at the MTC.

Popcorn popping on the Apricot Tree.

Pink Cherry blossoms up close. Some of the little pink petals are falling off making the sidewalks loool like they're covered with confetti.

it's been a while

Emily just emailed and asked me to post a picture of Sterling. WELL...how about 7 pictures of Sterling! I have been posting to my other blog....you can see it here.

Sterling is a big ball of energy. He's been a cuddly boy from day one and I never get tired of his tight squeeze hugs!

He is at that fun age where he's just starting to talk. He even blesses the food in his baby gibberish. His inflections are just right!

Walker is especially fond of Sterling and always makes sure to remind me if he needs a nap, is hungry, or just wants to play outside with the BIG boys.

We have been enjoying some sunny days at the park. It's still in the mid 60's but that's skirt and flip flop weather here.

The Easter Bunny brought lots of seeds for the garden, some new spring clothes and yes...CANDY! I somehow have my children fooled that mom does not like candy. I will just let them keep believing that. (Can you tell that Walker is yawning through his nose in the picture?)

We love Trader Joes Yogurt. We like to dip fresh fruit in it for desert. (Another reason my kids think I don't like sweets)

There was a time in my life that the idea of taking 3 little kids to the zoo would have been my biggest nightmare. Either I've learned a lot, or my standards have significantly slipped, because we had a great time yesterday. And even though we saw almost all of their restrooms, we still got to see most of the animals.

Also, Puj has some BIG publicity coming up. We got a phone call from someone who said they want to feature the Puj Tub on their TV show. Well, it's only the 2nd largest daytime TV show, but who's counting really! (dang that Oprah, always has to be #1)

Set your DVR for May 7th!!!!

Hey Easter Bunny

Well for the second year in a row now I've hosted Easter, I've decided I'm going to make this my tradition since I had so much fun. The only sad part was that I got a bon a fide blister on my finger from all of the potatoes I chopped for the potatoes au gratin. Other than that I think everyone left unscathed and a lovely time was had by all. And by all I mean, All, as in everyone, as in a lot of people, as in I'm surprised we all fit, but somehow we managed. Thanks to everyone for bringing food and helping out!

While Travis and I were setting up and getting ready for the thousands of people who were coming to dinner, the OraBrush Man showed up. He came bearing gifts: OraBrushes, Asparagus, and Bunny ears. Okay the bunny ears were Janes, but I couldn't resist. He also brought his roommate Boston. Boston and Austin. That never gets old. To round out the cities I introduced them all to Dallas. If only Savanna were here.

Austin and Boston. It really never gets old, try it for yourself.

Then the Grandma's and Grandpa's started showing up, and the party was truly getting under way.

Then the Aunts and Uncles and Cousins all showed up too and the house was full of food and family, just the way I like it. Sorry to anyone not pictured, I tried my best!
