The province of Guanacaste is named after these huge Guanacaste trees. They are tall and the canopy is very spread out so each tree casts a lot of shade. This one is on the grounds of the hotel where we stayed, although the trees are all over the place.
This tree had a lot of epiphytes in it, bromiliads etc. and a big flock of tiny green parrots. The parrots squawked loudly and constantly. Wish I could understand what they were so excited about. But they were small and high up in this huge tree so I couldn't get a good picture of them.
More interesting epiphytes, vines and bromiliads growing in this tree.
This tree had such pretty leaves. It was a very big tree, but the leaves resembled those of a house plant.

A cute gate close to our room. This rock wall surrounded the back side of the hotel grounds. I especially like picturesque gates and rock walls.
This is for Austin who bought a hammock when he was here. You need a large veranda with posts to hang your hammock on!
