Forest Hike near Volcan Arenal

This is a shot of Volcan Arenal. It was cloud covered much of the time we were there. This is about as clear as it got. It was interesting to watch the clouds as they circled round and round the top of the mountain. This volcano is the most recent of the volcanoes here to erupt. But there hasn't been any activity in the last few months.
Laurie, Jacob, and I took a forest hike in the National Park.
The root system of this tree resembles a giraffe or a dinosaur or some other creature.
A wild orchid.
A wild Heliconia.
Thick jungle growth.
A huge tree with Laurie and Jacob standing by.
Wild ferns.
Another shot of the big tree.
The root systems of these trees are really shallow so they grow these kind of flying butress formations at the base to be more stable.
The sign says it is dangerous here where we hiked, but as I mentioned before there hasn't been any volcanic activity here for several months.
The tree was also very tall with lots of vines winding round and round, but of course the camera couldn't capture all of it's size and height.

Looks like a lovely hike! I've never noticed before, but in that picture where they're standing by the signs, Jake looks a lot like his grandpa! :)
