Garage Sale

I happened to be in Steve's garage on Sunday night, and my walls are glad I was. I spied a pencil drawing he had done of Great Grandpa Redd, just sitting on his shelf in his garage. I deemed this an unfit place for such a piece of art, and kindly offered to take it off his hands and give it a proper home. He agreed on the condition that I frame the picture and put it up in my home: my thoughts exactly! So I thought I'd show you all that I truly gave Lemuel a proper home, and thank Steve once again for the great art piece. In fact I'd be happy to hang up any more you want to give me!

Nancy, that's a much nicer spot for that than collecting dust in our garage. It looks really nice. I'm glad you took it.

Ohhh...will Steve be having another sale anytime soon? I'm a bit of an art connoisseur, you know.

Thanks for Hanging it Up, Nancy. To be precise, it's a conte drawing, not pencil. I really did it only as a study for the painting I'm doing now. Maybe I'll put that up here later.

Angela, I've done this portrait because I want to see if I can get a business going doing ancestor portraits. I intent to build up my portfolio over the next several months -- I'm sure there'll be something you can take. I'll just give the same conditions I gave Nancy -- you have to hang it up somewhere.

I'm in! Also, I think that's a wonderful idea for a business, especially once you move to Utah, where there's lots of people very insterested in their ancestors. It was meant to be! What medium do you plan to focus on? I love the conte drawing, but an inkwash, or monochrom watercolor could be really cool. Not to mention oils!

p.s. great detail with the wirey gray beard hairs!

Steve, please invite me to your next garage sale! Of course I would hang it up! I'm very interested in old pics of my relatives. Mom, do you know where that old 20s photo of your mom is? I'd like that one in my collection.

Interestingly, I think Steve and Lem look like they're related. Ever thought about growing a beard?

I'll have to tell Jan Garbett who publishes the family newsletter about the blog sight and maybe she will put it in the next newsletter.

That really looks great, Steve. Good job.

Pam, Steve wants me to tell you that he will post pictures of the painting he just finished of the same subject. He thinks that would be a nicer thing to post in the family newsletter. Maybe he could email a picture directly to the newsletter compiler?

Austin, we have a fine piece of artwork by one Stephen M. Craig hanging in our house. Only, the artwork belongs to you. One of these days, when you have a place of your own, we will re-gift it unto you, although we are enjoying having it for the time being.
