Boat Ride on the Tortuguero Canal

People in front of me on the boat ride are other senior temple missionaries, and the man on the left is our guide.
This is our boat with the driver.
They call this a canal, but it is a natural formation kind of like a wide river, not very deep that runs parallel to the northern Carribbean coast.
We started out going north with the land on the right side being like an island and the coast line just a short distance beyond. The white splash on the bottom right of the picture is the spray from the boat.
The water was very still so we saw a lot of reflection. More spray from the boat, bottom right.
The palm trees along the shore are called Raffia Palms and are used a lot for making rattan furniture.
More reflections, pretty plants.
There are no roads into this area. It is accessed only by boat. This place with several boats with outboard motors was a sport fishing lodge. Our guide was proud of the fact that our boat was run with propane which doesn't polute as much as gasoline.
Buildings and boats occasionally along the shore. Part of this is a National Park, part not.
House on stilts with washing on the line. Looks like they have a TV antenna and electrical wires.
Another house along the shore.
The water was kind of murky, but calm and a pleasant boat ride. Lots of interesting flora.
