After hiking around in the Carara Parque, our guide took us to his cousin's little restaurant called Soda Raquel to eat. Most of us had the platos typicos with Costa Rican food. Laurie and I had the one with rice, beans, salad, fried tortillas, and fish. It was really good. Sorry, no picture, I guess I was too hungry to take a photo before eating. We drank the fresh fruit drink, this time pineapple. The people in this photo are Brother and Sister Smith from Snowflake, Az., Laurie, Brother and Sister Jarman from Utah and Florida, but who used to live in Az. and Brother and Sister Bolander from Wyoming.
This is the beach at Jaco. Those of you who have been here may remember that Jaco is on the way to Manuel Antonio. We walked up and down this beach after eating at Soda Raquel.
It was a nice enough beach and there weren't many people there, this isn't the high season but we did manage to get there on a nice day. I did pick up a few pieces of driftwood and a few shells and smooth stones.
The Jarmans are going home in a little over a week and they had never stopped there to see the crocodiles before so we stopped especially for them. I am always amazed at how many crocodiles there are and how big they are.
The Jarmans had lived at one point in South Africa and I think they had seen a lot of wild animals, but they were impressed with these crocodiles.
I always worry about somebody falling over the bridge railing! Sometimes the crocodiles are quite spread out on the sand bars and edges further up the river. But this time they were all congregated right there below the bridge.
