Work on the Temple During the Closing

The temple has beend closed for almost 2 weeks and they have been doing a lot of work on it. Notice the Costa Rican flag and the workmen. They are also doing work on the inside but I can't take pictures there.

They jack hammerred out the front steps and are pouring new conrete. It took them a long time to get out the old concrete. But I guess they got it all out and are now ready to put in the new.

Notice the man up on the ladder. They have been washing off the exterior of the building including the roof.

They redid a lot of the sprinkler system including all new valves and heads. A lot of the plants were dying from lack of water. This is the dry season. We haven't had rain since December. So they had to pull out a lot of plants and replace them. Hopefully with the new sprinklers, they will do well.

Notice the man in the white shirt. That is Laurie. He has been there all day every day since the work began. He has learned a lot as Temple Engineer and helps direct the work, always wearing a white shirt and a tie, but notice that the shirt does have short sleeves.

Close up of the forms and rebar for the new steps.

These are some of the new plants and it looks like the sprinklers are working. I had wanted them to save me some of the old plants they pulled out, but by the time Laurie got there that morning at 7:00 am. they had pulled them all up by the roots and had them in garbage bags. Too late!

These are the hydrangea beds. They have managed to survive. But I imagine they will thrive now that they have more water.

This is another bed that they are replanting.
Posted by PicasaThey talked of regilding Moroni because he looked too dull. But it doesn't look like they have redone him. He looks O.K. to me. Maybe it's the contrast with the blue sky.

Couldn't they just polish Moroni instead of reguild him? Looks like the work is coming along nice
