Touring an Organic Farm and Eating Their Produce

Look at these great pineapples. You know I like to try to grow pineapple plants from their tops. I have had several successful plants, but never have been able to get them to grow fruit.
We have eaten quite a few pineapples here and I always twist off the top and set it in water to get it to start roots. Most of them do grow. I transplanted one out into a pot and am not sure if it is still growing or not. We'll see.
When Austin came to visit, he knew he was in the right place because his mother has a bunch of pineapple tops growing new roots in the kitchen. Some day I hope to be able to grow some fruit on the plants.
Harvesting the yucca root. The plant looks like a little tree with a bare trunk and several branches at the top. They pull up the whole plant and the edible parts, looking kind of like potatoes, are in the roots. We have eaten yucca several times and didn't particularly care for it as it is so dry. But when they fried it in thin slices kind of like potato chips, it was really good.

We are right next to the jungle, eating the Costa Rican food. Our glasses are full of a bebida fruita. On the plates, we had chicken, rice, black beans, fried yucca, baked bananas with cheese and salad with spicy salsa, all very good, and we were hungry after river rafting.
Smiles on everybody's faces. The food is really tasty. Savanna's favorite Costa Rican food is the Tres Leches Queque (cake). Notice the bananas hanging all across the back of the covered deck.
